I currently own an LX-7, LX-5, Humming Bird Ice-35 and a Lowrance Elite-4 with transducer. Here’s a list of pros and cons that I found with each unit.
Pros: Lowrance Elite 4. Has gps can load maps, adjustable screen displays and able to mark way points. Cons is 3.5" target separation makes weeds look like one big clump, flasher mode isn’t clear, and a delay in motion when jigging or fish strike.can’t adjust beam angle and need to buy transducer separately
Pros: Humminbird Ice-35 great entry level flasher, bottom zoom, interference rejection, large display, narrow beam. Cons it doesn’t come with a cover, target separation is 2.5" harder to fine tune.
Pros: LX5 is 3/4" target separation, narrow beam, super fine line, interference rejection and movable 5’ and 10’ zooms . Cons are smaller display and snow collecting in the sun cover or the snow shield fogging up. (the need models have bigger displays and no sun shield)
Pros: LX7 it can be fine turned, 1/2" separation and I can change display types and colors on the fly and has all the same features as the LX5, the cons would be reflection from the sun and viewing the screen with polarized glasses.
I’m actually looking to sell the LX5 since my wife rather use the humminbird.
