My season opener this evening was slow. I caught more cold than fish.
South dam has riprap shoreline with big stones. It is difficult for a child not to fall or slip. North dam is lot smoother with small stones. It is also good in early season to fish between the course-way and the park entrance. It is safe for kids there.
Ticks were not nearly as bad as coulees of Lake Diefenbaker. Walleyes and pikes were very active in warm and calm days in May last season. Once my gold fish becomes active in the pound, it should be warm enough.
Haven't been shore fishing at the south end before. What's the shore like? Is it safe and/or easy to fish there for a 5 year old?
Walleyes were biting spoon, diving and floating crankbaits, and popper this evening. It was too weedy for jigs.
How are the ticks at the Strap ? I would imagine they will be a challenge this year . I do like fishing the shore on the south end in June .
That's Typical for early May at the Strap. Should pick up soon though
