Was fishing at Borden with my husband and son when my son caught a huge sturgeon! He fought with it for about a half hour and managed to bring it in. After a quick half minute review by most of the people fishing that day it swam away none the worse for wear. My son is a big 240 lb guy and he was tired. It was about 5 feet long and the other fishers thought it to be about 35 lbs. Kind of relieved it wasn't me who caught it.
Of all the fish Ive caught in this province, none beats the sturgeon. Ive caught two at Borden Bridge as well, theres something about that place... Congrats on that fish, love to see pics. BTW did it jump? Its amazing when they torpedo straight out
yeah i caught it, it didn't jump but it did roll around the surface to let us see how big he was. it was a hell of a fight and i don't know how to write bbcode so i can't post the pics..
we went back down to borden bridge and i pulled in another sturgeon... lol i guess that i should bring measuring tape when i go out! it looked to be approx. 3' so im guessing it was in the 25lb area. took about five minutes to reel it in (after my step dad untangled my line, due to too loose of drag) took a picture, tried to carry it and he just jumped out of our (stepdad and i) hands and took off swimming. this young fella was full of life and he was a beautiful fish.
no pics=didnt happen haha, just buggin ya, good catch. One species that has evaded me through my years. I am sure I had one on once but did not get the opportunity to land nor see it. well done, post pics if you have em'!!!
done and done future thank you
e-mail me the pics and I will post them for you....... firstname.lastname@example.org
A 35 lb sturgeon is a good sized sturgeon in this day and age. They are one of my favorite fish. If you have the pictures hosted on photobucket, or anywhere, you can use image tags to post the pictures. Or just post the link to the pictures and I'm sure one of us would be happy to tag them for easy viewing.
Heading down there tomorrow, any suggestions on spots around the bridge?, it will be first time for me fishing there
