Quite a few years ago when I did a lot of walleye fishing in Last Mtn. Lake, I found that after about the middle of September all the walleye I caught there were terrible, from the same places I'd been eating them from all year. Since it was such a waste, I just stopped keeping any. I assumed it was likely a change in their diet that caused it, but I'm no biologist. For the last few years my friends halfway up the lake have said that they taste good right through the fall now, and since that's nearly the only place and time I do go walleye fishing anymore, I wondered if anyone else had experienced this late season decline in quality.
