Lake Trout will tend be a little shallower in the winter due the water temps cooling off. You can find them in anywhere from 10 - 60 fow and sometimes deeper. They typically will feed heavily at first light and last light. In my experience they tend be more aggressive in the morning, but that can change depending on the lake. I have had luck with 1 ounce tube jigs and larger spoons. Both tipped with butterflied sucker belly. You can pick up full sucker belly at the Prince Albert Co-op Gas station before you head out of PA. Not sure where else to pick them up.
Another good hook choice would be a Johnny Darter. Its a swimming stick bait that works great for all types of fish, get the largest size as they will sink fast
