Lake Trout caught in Diefenbaker, while not common, is not overly unusual. There were several rounds of stocking in the 70s, and there is still a population of these fish in Dief, though, by now, it's not a very big one. There was a time when, in early spring and late fall, that catching Lakers at Dief happened fairly regularly, especially in the Elbow area. As far as Atlantic Salmon, I have never heard of them being found at the resevoir. There was some discussion by SERM in the past five years about a possible stocking program for Salmon in Dief (they also discussed a few other species, including smallmouth), but nothing ever came out of it. I'm not positive, but I don't think that there ever has been Atlantic Salmon being raised at the fish farm. I would think that, with the likelihood of escape at the farm, that they wouldn't be allowed to raise such a foreign species as that.
