I didn't mean to suggest that goldeyes will only take dries, just that i enjoy fishing them. They hit anything, including wets, nymphs, small spinners and spoons, 2 cm of worm, very small minnows. if no action on anything else, the piece of worm, or a maggot on a fly will usually produce. Find where the current swirls around into a backwater , lay your fly into the seam, and let the current bring it around into the pool. I use a 6wt, just because it's all I have. They're fesity, but not large... 3 lbs is exceptional.
