I'm running an absolute BEAUTY 14 foot aluminum with custom plywood seats. It's a bit overpowered with my 1989 Suzuki 2HP 2 stroke but that seems to get the job done. Top speed doesn't register on the speedometer, but I would put it somewhere between walking, and paddling. Custom ashtray built into the floor (the floor is the ashtray).I upgraded the fuel tank, it now holds 1L. It's amazing how that tank can push three men and a cooler across the lake and back on a single litre of fuel. I also added a fan favorite this year - custom live well. It is about 5 gallons and has a handle on it, you can actually see it beside the motor in this picture. We now call all pails, regardless of what they are being used for, "livewells".
I also added a Berkley stringer to the back. This seasons upgrades will include, but not limited to:
Custom cup holder, rod holder, speaker holder, tackle storage, and I might even throw in padded seats if the budget can handle it.
But seriously, I would love to upgrade to an Alumacraft 185 competitor with the single console steering wheel, or tiller model. 90HP Merc or Yamaha. I have completely outgrown this boat - don't get me wrong - it still holds it own on small lakes that are hard to get into, but I've had my fair share of scares nearly sinking this boat on whitecaps. You can get stranded on the far side of the lake pretty easily. I'd like a boat that can handle more waves than I want to!
