From the boat in the river, I rarely use anything other than jigs. White with red bucktail jigs, and chartreuse plain head jigs are, both tipped with frozen minnows, produce the majority of the fish for me. From shore, in the river, I've caught a lot of walleye on a pickeral rig, baited with minnows. When the bite is on, I've played around with slip bobbers, and sometimes done very well. But many times, fishing partners using pickeral rigs have done a lot better than whatever non pickeral rig set up i'm playing with, so it is getting really hard to use anything besides pickeral rigs.
