This time of year the fish are really looking for those warm pockets of water, 55 degrees and warmer. At 55 degrees the bait fish will school up in the warm pockets and bring in the predators. Pitching jigs with leeches in shallow water, like 6ft or less has been really productive and if you can produce big fish in the spring, both Pike and Walleye. I have fished a shallow spot bright and early in the morning and the temps were high 40s and no fish biting until the water warmed up to 55. It was a real eye opener and learning moment. Warm shallow water in the spring can be dynamite, and dief has plenty of nooks and crannies that might just hold a warm pocket of water with lots of fish.
Good Luck everyone!
